Lighting, furniture and art

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

LOT has moved now to 39 Reece Crescent the same venue as Material Girls, so now there is furniture lights and fabrics together. Material Girls has a comprehensive library of beautiful fabrics and wallpapers collected over a 10 year period. Mel and I think it will be of benefit to all to have all these options to create special spaces under one roof.

Simone Scrivener

Kakabeak by Saskia

a very delicate papercut by Saskia from Dunedin. Saskia Nickless' work is keeping true to her printmaking roots by working with paper. The work on paper is very delicate cut outs that play with shadow. The subject matter of this work is dealing with Native New Zealand birds and plants, using their traditional Maori names. These species themselves are delicate and this is reiterated through the medium.
The idea to use New Zealand subject matter came from researching heritage, identity and combining the cultures that Saskia is a part of.

Caught in a golden birdd cage by cream

I've finally started using the copper wire from my supply! I don't really like the colour, but it's easy to work with and the effect is quite good.
